How to wet Wrap your baby with eczema. My Style.

Ethan wears his scratchmenot and scratchsleeves all day long. However, i always still fear that what if it fell off and he took it off. So in order to be on the safe side, regardless the scratchsleeves is attached . I will also do Wet wrap for his leg because , he loves to scratch whenever is possible. Especially during sleeping time.

My wet wraps style is very simple. My objective is to prevent from Lil E to scratch his leg and also to lock in the moisturiser and keep his skin moisture all night long . This is because we are using air conditioner in the room. Although we have a pretty good humidifier. But yet. I decide to wrap his leg to keep him comfy all through the night.

Pleased be inform that , this was recommended by Lil E paed and also a few research online and study regarding it. I decide to do it my way which was easier and fast too.  The reason of this wrap is to lock in moisture and the first layer on top of the skin is a wet bandage. I will show in the photo below which is self explainable. The first layer of bandage has to be wet not others please use the Tubifast as it is
specialize for wet wrap.

I got my tubifast bandage from my paed. As i am located in Labuan, Malaysia. I am unable to search it in any pharmacies. I did a research and found out that you could purchase in the website below. You could find a big roll from here http://www.theallergyshop.com.au/categories/Wet-Wrap-Products/. I am checking if i have enough budget i ll get the 10 m one. As i am now cleaning and washing the bandage daily. That's my techniques as i have to use up until it worn out then i ll get a new one . But it seem like it's going to soil anytime soon. On the allergy shop they also teaches you how to apply the tubifast but now i am going to teach you how i did mine.

Below are my steps on how to wet wrap simplify version.

Left to right , 1 roll of Cotton Bandage, QV cream , Tubifast Bandage and 1 pair of Socks

First of all prepare all the stuff as above, wondering why i am not using my cetamacrogol ointment anymore. That's before i've been informed that it is out of stock. The whole state is out of stock. Except for the public hospital i didn't call them to find out but most pharmacies in Kota kinabalu, Malaysia are all out of stock. QV cream is the second cream that i would opt for instead of Cetamactrogol.

What i did as usual is leeil  finish his meal , clean up his body , change his clothing and pampers. And i will let him lay down comfy on the bed in the living room. And switch on his favourite cartoon.
First, i apply a layer of moisturiser on his leg .Once it is all done , the tubifast bandage has to be wet beforehand. Once the first layer of moisturiser is applied. Let him wear the Tubifast bandage. The tubifast bandage is to be wear like a socks. Please see as below. This is the dry one , it 's a bit old and nearly worn off. :(  Once he wore it , put another layer of moisturiser on top of the bandage . Usually once that is done a dry bandage have to be put on top of the wet one. Well i only have a pair of tubifast so. I ll just use the normal cotton bandage that is available on all store.

The little old tubifast bandage

You have to wrap the cotton bandage all over the wet bandage so that air will not dry up the wet tubifast bandage. There is no need to tie it . The easiest way is to put it into lil e socks. So that you don't have to tie it or stick it anywhere. The outcome of my wet wrap is as below.

Ethan 's leg Wet Wrap

So the summarize step are below

1.Pepare all the tools as above
2.provide a comfortable and relaxing enviroment prior to wrap
3.Wet the Tubifast bandage keep aside
4.apply the first later of moisturiser
5.Attach the tubifast bandage to your babies/kids leg
6.Put another layer of moisturiser
7.Wrap using bandage on top of the wet tubifast bandage
8.Socks to wear.

I invented this way my own , due to the insufficient tubifast bandage. Good luck on your trial. The below are the outcome of ethan leg after the wrap. You can see there is still red red bump. That's when its all good and he scratch again. keep trying as it help sleeping through the night.

  2. Do you think Ethan eczema is caused by food allergy or intolerance? My son suffered severe eczema on his whole body like Ethan before we stopped giving him cow’s milk and egg during his breastfeeding period.
Wet wrap is excellent, what cream or ointment you use?
